Employee Spotlight: Trish Flores Finds Business and Pleasure in Serving Seniors

When Trish Flores describes her job as Business Office Manager at Prime Independent Living’s flagship community in West Knoxville, so much more comes to her mind than just keeping everything running smoothly.

“We are focused on the residents,” she says of the vibrant senior living community which will open its doors in West Knoxville imminently. “I love that my job won't simply involve sitting behind a desk all day. My door will always be open and I will be very involved with the community and the residents. I can’t wait to put names to faces and go out to the Bark Park to mingle with the seniors.”

Bringing Experience and Excitement to the Workplace

With former careers working as a civil servant, defense contractor, and even an IT support tech at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, Trish found a fulfilling home in the retirement community sector in Knoxville, TN.

“I’ve worked with seniors for a while now and I was hooked from day one,” she says. “It doesn’t feel like going to work. I love applying my analytical and business skills and training in an environment where I can be of service to others. Seniors are so interesting. The older generations have such a wealth of backgrounds and life experiences and the colorful stories that go along with that. It gives me purpose and makes me happy.”

At Prime West Knoxville, Flores will take on much of the day-to-day human resource management, as well as accounting and overseeing the concierge team. You’ll also find her giving tours, interacting with residents, and assisting with some of Prime’s fun on-site activities such as holiday parties and crafting sessions.

She adds: “When I started at Prime, President of Operations, Debra Maynard told me, ‘We are here to feed their souls.’ That’s just perfect to me. Prime West Knoxville is centered around the wellbeing of residents and that’s why you’ll find me out interacting with the seniors. I know they are looking for a simplified life where they have less to worry about and more time to focus on living and enjoying.

Our mission is to provide them with that and make life easier for them. Life isn’t over as we get older, there are always new and exciting things to look forward to. Our job, our mission, and our desire is to provide that for them. We will take away some of their stress and give them more time to play.”
